Politics, Society and Economy of Asia

De specialisatie Politics, Society and Economy (PSE) is speciaal bedoeld voor studenten die geïnteresseerd zijn in de sociaalwetenschappelijke bestudering van een of meerdere landen of regio’s in Azië. Het kan dan gaan om moderne geschiedenis, sociologie, ontwikkelingseconomie, media wetenschappen, politieke wetenschappen, internationale verhoudingen en antropologie.
De Leidse specialisatie Politics, Society and Economy is breed opgezet en wordt verzorgd door experts met kennis over alle Aziatische regio’s: zowel Oost Azië, Zuidoost Azië, Zuid Azië als Centraal Azië.

The programme’s modular structure with elective courses in each of the two semesters and an individually supervised thesis allows students a considerable degree of freedom and individual specialisation by country, region, discipline or field. Within the PSE specialisation, knowledge of an Asian language is not required, but students have the option of taking an intensive modern language course at beginner’s level in Japanese, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean or Hindi.
