Politics, Society and Economy of Asia

Entry requirements

• A BA within arts, humanities or social sciences in a relevant subject
• Foundational knowledge of the politics, society or economy of one or more Asian countries or regions
• A good command of English as demonstrated by IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 88-90/230/570 evidenced by an appropriate test .
  This requirement does not apply if you have:
  • completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
  • an International Baccalaureate, or
  • a Dutch VWO diploma.

Pre-master’s

Students with a BA or equivalent who do not satisfy the second requirement will be allowed to take a pre-master’s track prior to admission. The pre-master’s track will consist of BA courses offered in Leiden. The selection of such courses will be determined by the Board of Admissions, depending on the student’s individual background and MA learning objectives (specialisation, region and field), but should normally not exceed 60 EC in total. Students who complete the pre-master’s programme successfully will be admitted to the master’s programme.
