In de masterspecialistatie Oude Geschiedenis kom je in aanraking met een breed overzicht van de geschiedenis van de Grieken en Romeinen, met de nadruk op de mentaliteit en de sociale en economische geschiedenis van 400 v.Chr tot 400 n.Chr.
Je verdiept je in een reeks onderwerpen, waaronder:
- De complexe geschiedenis van de Romeinse republiek;
- Stedelijk leven in Italië, Klein-Azië en Egypte;
- Grieks-Romeinse religie;
- De opkomst van het christendom.
Entry requirements
- A BA degree or its equivalent, with a relevant specialisation and good results.
- A reading knowledge of Dutch is preferred for the following specialisations:
- History of the European Expansion and Globalisation
- Medieval and Early Modern European History
- Political Culture and National Identities
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in English: IELTS test level of at least 6.5 or TOEFL score of at least 570/230/88-90, evidenced by an appropriate test.
This requirement does not apply if you have:- completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
- an International Baccalaureate, or
- a Dutch VWO diploma
Students who have a BA in History or Ancient Cultures of the Mediterranean World from Leiden University do not have to apply for admission.
