De specialisatie Literary Studies (research) onderscheidt zich van andere MA opleidingen in Nederland door de intensieve samenwerking met de MA programma’s van Media Studies en de Research Master specialisatie Arts and Culture ; het gezamenlijke onderwijsprogramma biedt je de mogelijkheid om verschillende waardevolle (interdisciplinaire) vaardigheden op te doen, waaronder historische en theoretische.
Er vanuit gaande dat de studie van culturele objecten en gebruiken gefundeerd is op een overkoepelend theoretisch en methodologisch kader, worden in deze specialisatie zowel media als kunst en literatuur bestudeerd.
Career
As a graduate of the Research Master’s in Art and Literature, you have the very real possibility of moving into a research-oriented career in an academic environment. This programme is an ideal preparation for undertaking a PhD programme or working as a researcher at an institution anywhere in the world. However, you will also be fully prepared to begin a more general career where an academic level of thinking and research skills are required, for instance at a research institute, cultural institution, or an academic or art library. Graduates also move into the fields of archiving, publishing and other media industries, while some can be found in management positions within the cultural public domain, in art trade, and in journalism and public relations.
Teacher-training in Art History
If you are interested in a career in teaching, you can follow a teacher-training MA at the ICLON Graduate School of Education once you have graduated from the master’s programme. You have to speak fluent Dutch to follow the course, and there are some additional entry requirements.
