What can you expect from the programme? At the core of LUCL you’ll discover academic excellence, diversity and research. With a strong tradition in applying various approaches to language variation and language change—in syntax, phonology, semantics and other fields—you will concentrate on developing your academic path through original research. Each year, for example, LUCL appoints five to ten PhD students, mostly within externally-funded projects, who continue the research methods they were taught in the MPhil programme. In addition, numerous conferences, workshops and lecture series are organised and attended by the faculty’s multi-national staff and student body.
The Research Master’s in Linguistics provides you with a large and varied selection of subjects and languages. As a result, you have the choice to focus your study programme on a certain theme, or to create your own specialisation.
