Career
The majority of our graduates enter careers in international departments of law firms, international businesses and international bureaus of government service or international agencies. Alumni have proven to be well prepared for the fierce competition for interesting positions, both academically and professionally. For example, graduates are working in judges’ cabinets at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, for governments of new EU Member States, or have been selected for a PhD position at the prestigious European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
Approximate percentages of graduates and the types of employment they gained are as follows:
- 35% of the graduates work in law firms (many of them internationally operating law firms),
- 20% work as corporate lawyers,
- 10% work in national governments and administrations,
- 5% work in international and European institutions,
- 5% work at national and international courts (including, for example, the Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court),
- 5% work at universities,
- 5% work as diplomats,
- 10% of graduates pursue further studies (in particular PhD research),
- the remaining 5% work in such diverse capacities as journalist, self-employed consultant, employee of an NGO or of a chamber of commerce, or as a legal language editor.
