The programme covers theoretical, applied, historical and socio-historical linguistics, building on the current linguistic research being conducted at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL), one of the largest linguistics institutes in the Netherlands and home to some of continental Europe’s finest English scholars.
Courses are offered in phonology, morphology and syntax, as well as in historical sociolinguistics and World Englishes. Courses of a more applied nature include lexicography, translation studies and the language of letters.
