De MA Egyptology behandelt de taalkundige en culturele geschiedenis van Egypte vanaf de Faraonische tijd tot het Grieks-Romeinse en Koptische Egypte. Heb je een opleiding in de Oude Geschiedenis, Nabije Oosten-studies of archeologie and wil je meer kennis opdoen van het oude Egypte?
Of heb je een bachelor Egyptische taal en cultuur en wil je je verder specialiseren in de onderwerpen van jouw keuze? Dan is de Leidse MA Egyptology de ideale opleiding voor jou.
Het programma komt aan jouw belangstelling tegemoet met een breed palet aan benaderingen en thema’s. Een deel van het curriculum vindt plaats in Egypte.
Entry requirements
- BA in the field of Egyptology, Near Eastern Studies, Egyptian or Near Eastern Archeology, with a thorough knowledge of Middle Egyptian
- BA related to the field, preferably in (Ancient) History, Classics, or Archaelogy or an equivalent degree. Holders of a BA in a related field will follow a slightly different programme from those with a degree in Egyptology.
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in English: IELTS test level of at least 6.5 or TOEFL score of at least 570/230/88-90, evidenced by an appropriate test.
This requirement does not apply if you have:- completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
- an International Baccalaureate, or
- a Dutch VWO-diploma
Students who have a BA in Egyptian Language and Culture or Ancient Cultures of the Mediterranean World from Leiden University do not have to apply for admission.
Applicants with a higher professional education (HBO) degree are not eligible for admission.
