Programme
This programme studies the learning processes of children and adolescents from a cognitive-psychological and neuro-scientific perspective. The courses take place in small groups of no more than 15 to 20 students, which allows for intensive and personal contact with the lecturer and the other students. The master’s programme consists of four substantive courses, devoted to the following subjects:
• Cognitive and neuro-psychological learning processes
• Individual differences between children (from learning problems to being highly gifted)
• Learning to write (in an understandable manner) and do arithmetic
• Evidence-based interventions
• Professional development of teachers
In addition, students are trained in research methods and techniques, they do an internship, and write a master’s thesis under the supervision of a researcher. For the internship, students can choose between a number of assignments which are related to current research themes within the Educational Studies Department. As a result, students can broaden their expertise in one of these fields. For more information on the internship, see the special internship link (in Dutch).
For a more extensive course description, see the e-Prospectus and for a description of the research themes, see the research site (in English).
