De masterspecialisatie Drug Delivery Technology and Biopharmaceutics bestaat uit verplichte – en keuzeonderdelen. Belangrijk onderdeel van de verplichte vakken zijn de twee onderzoeksprojecten, beiden inclusief het schrijven van een masterscriptie. De belangrijkste onderzoeksproject moet binnen de discipline van de drug delivery technology of van de biofarmacie vallen. Het kleinere onderzoeksproject valt bij voorkeur in een andere discipline van de bio-farmaceutische wetenschappen. De keuzeonderdelen kunnen gevuld worden met vakken uit het aanbod van aanvullende cursussen of met een stage.
The Drug Delivery Technology and Biopharmaceutics specialisation consists of compulsory and optional components. The major compulsory components are the two research projects, both of which include writing a master’s thesis. The major research project must be in the discipline of Drug Delivery Technology or Biopharmaceutics and the minor research project preferably in a different discipline of Biopharmaceutical Sciences (BPS). Other compulsory components are: a literature study, including the writing of an essay or thesis, attending two advanced lecture series in disciplines of BPS, attending the Scientific Conduct course, and attending twenty lectures and colloquia presented by other master’s students in BPS. For the optional component, master’s students can choose from additional courses or work placements.
The distinguishing feature of the Leiden MSc in Biopharmaceutical Sciences is its research-oriented approach. This research orientation in the teaching programme is unique in Europe and enjoys a high international profile.
