De specialisatie Digital Access to Cultural Heritage van de MA-opleiding Book and Digital Media Studies is gericht op de praktijk van digitale beschikbaarstelling van cultureel erfgoed. Wat zijn de uitdagingen en mogelijkheden om bijzondere collecties en kennisdomeinen in bibliotheken en andere culturele instellingen online toegankelijk te maken? Bijzondere nadruk ligt op interactie tussen de aanbieders en de gebruikers van erfgoed in digitale vorm.
De specialisatie wordt verzorgd in samenwerking met de Koninklijke Bibliotheek in Den Haag.

Programme
In the fall semester the programme offers a combination of four core courses and two electives. The electives —which you select from three options— helps to prepare you for the two specialisation courses chosen in the spring semester out of three alternatives: Book History, Publishing Studies and Digital Access to Cultural Heritage. At the end of the year you will be required to produce a 15,000-word thesis.
Throughout the academic year a number of excursions are undertaken. You will have the opportunity to visit such places as the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Media Park in Hilversum as well as a number of publishing companies. The department also offers an exchange programme with a variety of other European universities.
