De onderzoeksmaster Developmental Psychopathology in Education and Child Studies aan de Leidse universiteit is ontworpen om studenten te leren onafhankelijk een onderzoeksvraag op te stellen, op basis van bestaande inzichten in de pedagogische wetenschappen. Tevens wordt, door wetenschappelijk onderzoek, een bijdrage geleverd aan de ontwikkeling van nieuwe, fundamentele theoretische inzichten of praktische theorieën, met als doel het bevorderen van de pedagogische wetenschappen als een academische discipline. De opleiding wordt afgesloten met het voorbereiden van een artikel dat een dusdanig niveau heeft dat het gepubliceerd zou kunnen worden in een internationaal erkend wetenschappelijk tijdschrift.
Entry requirements
Those applicants are eligible who have earned a national degree in one of the academic bachelor’s degree programmes in one of the behavioural sciences or a degree in an equivalent programme, e.g. as conferred by international research-partner institutes.
In addition, students holding a master’s degree in another scientific field may also be accepted to the programme. Earlier academic performance at BA level will be taken into consideration, as an indicator for successfully completing this research master’s programme.
In particular, applicants must possess:
- Demonstrable affinity with knowledge of an area of research in the programme, as evidenced by a BA thesis relating to that area or by a comparable paper in which relevant literature and research are discussed. (Please send a copy together with completed admission form.)
- Training in methods and techniques in educational research and statistics at BA level should minimally account for 16 ECTS credits.
- Research skills, having completed the research cycle independently or in a small group.
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in English: IELTS test level of at least 7.5 or TOEFL score of at least 623/263/106, evidenced by an appropriate test ; writing proficiency in English at pre-university education level.
This requirement does not apply if you have:- completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
- an International Baccalaureate, or
- a Dutch bachelor’s diploma
An HBO diploma does not give admission to this master’s programme.
