De masteropleiding in Computer Science (Informatica) wordt aangeboden door het Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS). Dit insitituut heeft een lange traditie in het combineren van een theoretische, experimentele maar ook toegepaste aanpak in het gebied van expertise. Dit komt naar voren in het onderzoeksprofiel van het instituut en het onderwijsprogramma dat het aanbiedt.
Het LIACS is een partner in het Lorentz Centre, een internationaal onderzoekscentrum voor sterrenkunde, informatica, wiskunde, natuurkunde en biowetenschappen. Het Lorentz Centre heeft talloze internationale samenwerkingsverbanden en onderhoudt excellente contacten met andere Nederlandse universitaire onderzoeksgroepen en industrie.

Leiden University offers five different specialisations in the MSc programme in Computer Science.
Three specialisations are dedicated to the specialisations of the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science:
