De specialisatie Comparative Indo-European Linguistics behandelt de studie en het vergelijk van een groot aantal aan elkaar gerelateerde talen in Europa en Azië.
De opleiding biedt je een binnen Nederland uniek en inspirerend studieprogramma. Niet alleen is dit de enige opleiding in zijn soort in het land, je bent tevens in de gelegenheid om talen te bestuderen die niet gedoceerd worden bij enig ander Nederlands instituut, zoals Armeens, Albanees, Avestisch en Litouws.
Studenten die Indo-Europese talen willen combineren met een dieptestudie in een taal of een groep talen kunnen hun voordeel halen uit de vele talen die aangeboden worden door de Faculteit der Geesteswetenschappen, zoals Indologie, Klassieke Talen, Slavisch, Perzisch en talen van het Oude Nabije Oosten.
Entry requirements
- a BA degree in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics, or in any of the Indo-European languages (such as Slavic, Germanic, Classical languages, or Sanskrit) with an emphasis on philology, from a recognised university
- thorough profiency in English: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 570 / 230 / 88-90 evidenced by an appropriate test.
This requirement does not apply if you have:- completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
- an International Baccalaureate, or
- a Dutch VWO-diploma
Students who have a BA in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics from Leiden University do not have to apply for admission.
Applicants with a higher professional education (HBO) degree are not eligible for admission.
