De specialisatie Book and Digital Media Studies houdt zich bezig met het dynamisch proces van kennis en informatieoverdracht in analoge (druk) en elektronische (internet) media. Je bestudeert zowel de historische ontwikkeling – van Gutenberg tot Gates – als de moderne praktijk van de tekstuele communicatie in hun maatschappelijke en technologsche context. Veel aandacht wordt besteed aan de ingrijpende consequenties van de digitale revolutie voor de wereld van het boek.
Het programma kent drie aandachtsgebieden:
- Digital access to cultural heritage
- History of the book
- Publishing Studies
Het unieke karakter van het MA programma trekt studenten aan van over de hele wereld.
Research/PhD
Anyone with a Master’s degree can in principle apply for a PhD-track. Graduates from the Book and Byte programme can apply to be admitted to the Textual transmission and textual editing specialisation of the Research Master’s in Literature.
