In de specialisatie Arabic Studies bestudeer je de taal, literatuur, verleden, en culturen van de Arabische wereld. Je onderzoekt het bereik en veelheid van de Arabische invloed op samenlevingen wereldwijd.
Kenmerkend van deze opleiding zijn de academische inhoud en de nadruk op taalkundige ontwikkeling.
Als student word je aangemoedigd om brede praktische ervaring op te doen. Hiertoe kent de opleiding uitwisselingsprogramma’s met Caïro en Rabat en werkt ze intensief samen met de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Deelname aan deze programma’s is een integraal onderdeel van je opleiding.
Career
As a graduate of the MA in Middle Eastern Studies, you will be qualified to work in a wide variety of careers requiring specialist language or cultural knowledge. For example, within the diplomatic service, policy-making positions at ministries, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, positions in the educational sector or NGOs involved in development cooperation projects, but also within international organisations, the cultural tourism or socio-cultural sectors.
