De Leidse masteropleiding in Russian Studies kent een uitgebalanceerde combinatie van taal- en feitenonderwerpen, en is daarmee uniek in Nederland. Je wordt onderdeel van een breed georiënteerde opleiding die bestaat uit vier academische hoofddisciplines: geschiedenis, politieke wetenschap, economie en cultuur. Je moet het Russisch goed beheersen om deel te kunnen nemen aan deze master.

The aim of the programme is to enable you to reach a scholarly level of interdisciplinary expertise on Russia. Building on the solid command of the Russian language you developed in the Bachelor’s programme, you will go on to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of present-day Russian society.
You will also acquire profound knowledge of, and insights into, the history, politics, economic situation and contemporary culture of Russia. On the basis of Western and Russian sources, you will be able to formulate well-founded statements about the developments in Russia and to critically evaluate assessments made by others.
